BLUE COAST HOLISTIC PSYCHOTHERAPY IN SARNIA, ON

Why do I feel like I'm surviving instead of living?

You’re holding a lot. Work, the people who depend on you, the things you’ve never had time to sit with. Most days you manage it, but lately managing takes everything you have. The overwhelm has started showing up in your body. You’re short with people you love, then hard on yourself afterward. Somewhere in there, you lost track of what you need.

In adult therapy, we help you find your way back to it.

Whole person healing starts here.

Adult Therapy in Sarnia

What Is Adult Therapy?

Adult therapy is one-to-one work with a Sarnia therapist to help you understand yourself and change what isn’t working. That might be anxiety, depression, burnout, trauma that still surfaces, or patterns you keep repeating in relationships.

At Blue Coast Holistic Psychotherapy, our approach is holistic, which simply means we look at your whole life when we work with you. Your history, your relationships, your lifestyle, and your physical health all shape how you’re feeling, so all of it belongs in the room. Symptoms are usually communicating something, and understanding what they’re saying is where lasting change begins.

People come to us saying things like:

“Why does everything feel so overwhelming?”
“I’m tired of just getting by. I want to feel like myself again.”
“I keep having the same argument, at home and in my head.”
“I can’t switch my brain off long enough to be present with anyone.”
“There are people around me, and I still feel alone with all of this.”

Adult Therapy Can Help With:

Anxiety, Panic, & OCD

You’re on edge more days than not, and it’s wearing you down. We’ll help you understand what’s driving the anxiety and build something that fits the life you’re living.

Trauma & Past Experiences

What happened doesn’t stay where it happened. It shows up as hypervigilance, reactivity, intrusive thoughts, numbness, or the sense that you’re always braced for something. We’ll help you process trauma gently, so it stops shaping your days.

Depression

Low energy, flat days, and losing interest in things you used to love can creep in slowly. Therapy helps you understand what’s underneath the heaviness, and find your way back toward yourself.

Burnout, Stress, & Overwhelm

Too much to carry, and not enough of you to go around. We’ll look at what’s been draining you, what needs to change, and how to make those changes gently, so nothing else has to fall apart in the process.

ADHD & Neurodivergence

Trouble with focus, follow-through, and emotional regulation can leave you feeling scattered and hard on yourself. We’ll help you understand how your brain works and build systems that fit it in ADHD therapy. We also offer our ALIGN ADHD Program, a structured 12-week option if that suits you better. Contact us to learn more about it.

Relationship Patterns & Boundaries

Saying yes when you mean no, giving until there’s nothing left, or finding yourself in the same dynamic again. We’ll help you understand where the patterns come from, and build boundaries you can hold onto with your partner.

Anger & Emotional Regulation

Reacting bigger than you meant to, then carrying the guilt afterward. Together we’ll understand what sits underneath the reaction, and find steadier ways to meet those moments.

Substance Use & Coping Habits

Drinking more than you planned, scrolling, overworking, or checking out when things feel like too much. These habits usually start as something that helps. We’ll look at what yours is doing for you and find gentler ways to get that relief.

Grief & Loss

Grief doesn’t follow a schedule, and it doesn’t only follow a death. We’ll make room for it, at whatever pace it needs, as you feel ready.

Eating Concerns & Body Image

A complicated relationship with food, your body, or control can be exhausting to carry alone. We offer compassionate, non-judgemental support to help you heal that relationship.

Stress in the Body

Muscle tension, headaches, stomach trouble, trouble sleeping, and fatigue with no clear cause. We pay attention to the body as much as the mind, and help your nervous system come down from high alert.

Approaches We Use In Individual Therapy

We’re an integrative, holistic practice, which means we draw from a range of evidence-based, trauma-informed approaches and match them to you rather than to a formula.

EMDR helps your brain reprocess experiences that are still affecting you, so a memory becomes something that happened rather than something that keeps happening. It’s particularly useful when a reaction feels bigger than the situation in front of you.

Most of us have a part that pushes, a part that avoids, and a part that criticizes both. IFS helps you understand what each part is trying to protect you from, so you can stop fighting yourself.

Stress lives in the body as much as the mind. Somatic and polyvagal-informed approaches help you notice what your body is holding, and give your nervous system a way to settle.

CBT helps you notice the thoughts driving your anxiety, overthinking, or low mood, test them against what’s true, and change what you do in response. For worry, sleep, and avoidance, it’s often the first thing we reach for.

CPT helps you examine the beliefs you formed about yourself and the world after something difficult happened, so those beliefs stop quietly shaping your decisions today.

DBT builds concrete skills for riding out intense emotions, tolerating distress, and staying steady in relationships when things get hard.

EFT helps you move toward emotions rather than around them, so feelings you’ve been managing at arm’s length can finally be worked through.

Frequently Asked Questions About Adult Therapy

Have another question? We'd be happy to help!

If you’re feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or simply want support navigating life’s challenges, therapy can be a helpful space to explore.

We might be biased, but we believe that therapy has the potential to benefit anyone. You don’t need to have everything figured out. The first session is an opportunity to see if the approach and therapist feel like a good fit for you. Many people start nervous and leave feeling understood and supported.

A free 20-minute phone or virtual consultation is offered for new clients to ensure we would be a good fit. These can be scheduled via phone or email, through the contact form, or through our online booking.

If you’d rather skip the consultation and just jump into therapy, you can book an appointment via our online booking page, or reach out and we will schedule a time that works for you.

Individual therapy sessions are $175 per 50-minute session.
We believe therapy should feel accessible.

A limited number of sliding scale and reduced-fee sessions are available with our student interns. Please reach out if cost feels like a barrier; we’re happy to discuss options.

Your first appointment is an opportunity to learn more about you. This initial meeting will focus on understanding your concerns and current symptoms, exploring any relevant personal history, and identifying possible root causes of the issues you’re facing.

Additionally, this session will aim to establish your treatment goals to guide the therapy process moving forward. This thorough approach ensures that the subsequent therapy sessions are tailored to your specific needs and objectives.

We work with individuals, couples, and youth facing a variety of challenges. This includes anxiety, depression, trauma, substance use, eating concerns, perinatal mental health, relationship concerns, ADHD and neurodivergence, life transitions, stress and burnout, grief, and more.

Every person’s experience is unique, and we work collaboratively to create a safe, supportive space tailored to your needs.

The length of therapy varies depending on your goals, needs, and the issues you’re working on. Some people benefit from just a few sessions, while others choose longer-term support or treatment. Together, we’ll discuss a plan that works for you and adjust as your needs evolve.

Adult therapy is a collaborative process, and progress can look different for everyone. You might notice changes in your thoughts, emotions, or relationships, or feel more equipped to cope with challenges.

Regularly reflecting on your goals with your therapist helps track progress and ensures your sessions remain meaningful and supportive.

Yes, therapy can be very helpful for individuals navigating trauma, PTSD, eating concerns, and challenges with substance use. We use evidence-informed approaches to create a safe, supportive space where you can process experiences, build coping skills, and work toward meaningful change.

Every person’s journey is unique, and sessions are tailored to your needs and goals.

Therapy works best when you feel comfortable, understood, and supported.

At Blue Coast Holistic Psychotherapy, we take the process of matching you with a Sarnia therapist seriously. If you ever feel your therapist isn’t the right fit, you can discuss it openly, and we’ll help explore alternatives or connect you with someone who better meets your needs. Your comfort and progress are always our priority.

Yes! It’s completely normal to feel nervous before starting therapy, and many people do. Individual therapy in Sarnia is a personal process, and it’s okay to take things at your own pace.

Our goal is to create a safe, supportive space where you can share openly. Your first session is simply an opportunity to get to know each other, discuss your concerns, and explore whether this feels like a good fit for you.

Looking into therapy is the first step; let us help you take the next.
